What are the responsibilities and job description for the Configuration Manager position at NexGen Data Systems Inc?
NGDS is seeking a Configuration Manager that will add significant value to a team of motivated, self-directed individuals for the planning and production support of configuration management (CM) functions across a large scale datacenter operation. The ideal candidate will be motivated, organized, operate with a sense of urgency and be highly detail oriented.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Provide support for planning and producing a configuration control and management process that will assist with implementing and sustaining procedures for controlling modifications to baseline hardware, firmware, software, and documentation to ensure the protection of the Network infrastructure against improper modifications before, during, and after implementation.
· Provide support for planning and producing a process for reporting and recording changes to installed baseline equipment, equipment configuration specifications, and site locations.
· Provide support for planning and producing a process for documenting, tracking and maintaining the configuration of systems (hardware and software data) and equipment.
· Provide planning and production support for the following CM functions:
o Document Management
o CM life cycle management and planning
o CM training
o Configuration Identification
o Configuration Control
o Configuration Status Accounting
o Configuration Verification and Audit
o Data Management
· Responsible for management and execution of the following:
o RFCs:
§ Process RFCs for approval and monitor progress, addressing issues and removing impediments as necessary.
§ Develop/run scheduled and ad-hoc reports to provide metrics on RFC progress and status, including a weekly report on how many RFCs were submitted in last 7 days
§ Work with Service Area Leads and Leadership on RFC Level 1 Templates for ServiceNow
§ Shift RFCs implemented or closed out state to appropriate shares
o DADMS:
§ Serve as a functional SME on DADMS processes.
§ Answer questions from AOR Leads on LDA forms, when necessary.
§ Coordinate with DADMs team for updated templates and ensure latest versions are stored
o ServiceNow/CMDB:
§ Establish and maintain CMDB.
§ Validate Configuration Item Classes, Attributes and Location List for ServiceNow/ CMDB
§ Reconcile CMDB Import from ITOM Discovery with existing Excel-based CMDB
§ Coordinate with all teams on Change Management Reporting Requirements
Desired/Required Skills:
- 4 years as a configuration manager supporting IT programs required.
- 10 years of experience supporting IT organizations required.
- CMII Comprehensive certification OR CMPIC certification OR CCDS certification OR CMPro training and certification OR ITIL Practitioner Certification preferred.
- Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.
- Secret Security Clearance or higher preferred.
- 8570 Compliance (Active Security and OS Certifications).
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Reliable with exceptional work ethic.
- Ability to handle competing priorities with high expectations in a team-oriented environment.
