Project Cost Estimator

The Project Cost Estimator will play a vital role in coordinating and developing accurate, timely, and detailed cost estimates in the execution of major and minor capital and construction projects. The Project Cost Estimator will collaborate with project managers and various engineering disciplines in the preparation of cost estimates and provide technical guidance and direction to project managers regarding specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, and/or processes related to estimating.

The Project Cost Estimator will prepare cost estimates for projects by utilizing Aspen Capital Cost Estimator, RS Means, Richardson Cost Estimator, bid documentation, and historical data and collaborate with the engineering disciplines and project services team to determine the most accurate approach.

The Project Cost Estimator is also responsible for providing detailed and summarized reports of the total installed project costs, including benchmarking against industry and historical metrics, and may be asked to conduct complex risk analysis using a proprietary program.

Reports to Project Services Director. Work is performed in a typical office environment.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Provide well-organized, thought through cost estimates for capital and construction projects
• Develop a Basis of Estimate document, in collaboration with the project team, to indicate cost assumptions and sources
• Gather and input data into Aspen Capital Cost Estimator software
• Report cost data using company tools and process
• Perform material take-offs from engineering drawings
• Understand and implement client standards and agreements
• Perform complex analysis of collected data (including reconciling between different revisions and phases of a project and risk analysis)
• Present estimates for approval to the project and client teams
• Gather supplier and vendor proposals and pricing
• Help to develop preliminary project schedule
• Visit project site for bid walks and meetings, when required

Qualifications:

• 
  3- 5 years of previous work experience in related field
• Knowledge of current applied techniques in project estimating from conceptual state to final detailed estimating
• 3-5 Years of previous experience in Construction or Oil & Gas industries

Education/Certification Requirements:

• BS Engineering or BA in appropriate field
• Advanced degree a plus

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
