What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Records Specialist - Part Time (Weekends) Sat/Sun position at Nexus Recovery Center?
SUMMARY: Responsible for data entry and maintenance of active and inactive client records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Priority Duties
- Maintains, scans, and break-down all inactive client charts, which includes following facility procedures regarding the maintenance of inactive client charts.
- Coordinates chart requests by clinical staff and manages outstanding client charts.
- Processes record requests from outside agencies.
- Completes data entry as required, which includes entering information on screenings, admissions, and discharge/follow-up.
Additional Duties
- Receives and screens telephone calls from applicants and/or referral sources
- Sends applicants appropriate program information as needed.
- Refers applicants to appropriate referral sources, if determined to be inappropriate for Nexus programs.
- Coordinates with applicants and/or referral sources all records required for the admission process.
- Coordinates paperwork required to admit clients into appropriate programs.
- Maintains contact with applicants, keeping them informed of waitlist status.
- Covers the admissions office when the Admissions and Records Coordinator is away from the facility, which includes distribution of the daily census.
- Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
