POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading the Quality Assurance Department to ensure our coaches meet all specified product requirements and that department activities are consistent with business requirements. This role is accountable for in-station inspections, verification of operator verifications, supplier quality, auditing coaches and auditing operational processes. This team supports the QAS system and runs the MRB process, ensuring parts are dispositioned in a timely manner.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Provide leadership and manage the overall performance of department staff to meet objectives and continuously improve department’s performance.
- Review repetitive field and factory quality snags and assist with implementation of process improvements to prevent reoccurrence.
- Support Operational Excellence objectives with special emphasis of those areas related to Quality.
- Support and endorse the use of the New Flyer Quality tools to drive Quality and Continuous Improvement. Ensure that the tools are clearly understood, functioning as intended and providing the desired results.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Materials, and other areas as required, on the readiness of new product implementations, ensuring the standards meet the customer expectations, process capabilities and design and quality standards.
- Utilize Quality metrics information to identify areas requiring performance improvement. Work with production leadership to identify plans to address those areas.
- Provide leadership and mentoring throughout the organization to resolve Quality problems utilizing structured problem solving techniques.
- Provide guidance, training plans and feedback for areas of improvement for Quality personnel as appropriate.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
- 7 or more years experience working in a Quality position in a position of authority (prefer similar industry, aerospace or automotive)
- Well-developed influencing, coaching and facilitation skills in order to interact effectively at all levels of an organization
- Proven organizational skills, solid problem solver with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated commitment to safety
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and 5S processes
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Visio, Power BI)
