What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Instructor position at NFP ORG?
Local day camp in Bellmore seeks 2 certified swim instructors to provide swim instruction for their campers from 11am-12:15pm, 3 days per week (dates below).
General responsibilities: Responsible for assessing the swimming ability of each camper prior allowing them to participate in aquatic activities. In addition to this, swim instructors teach swim lessons and water safety to participants at various levels of proficiency.
Specific duties:
· Assess the swimming ability of each camper prior to allowing the child to participate in aquatic activities.
· Ensure that non-swimmers remain in less than chest deep water.
· Teach swim lessons and water safety to campers-grouped by swim level
· Complete records and reports of campers’ swim levels
· Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
· Current certification in the following:
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor/Basic Swim Instructor certification or equivalent from the following agencies: Boy Scouts of America, Canadian Red Cross, Orchard Park Recreation, PADI, Starfish Aquatics Institute, or YMCA.
· An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures
· Teaching skills for young campers
· Patience and happy disposition
· Good decision-making skills
