Evening Shift - includes every other weekend 3 pm - 11 pm Plus
- Week 1 Monday 4 pm - 9 pm
- Week 2 Friday 4 pm - 9 pm
Job Understanding
- Willingly accepts resident assignments, seeks to understand Care plans and maintains a total awareness of residents’ abilities.
- Follows procedures to provide resident care: bathing, oral hygiene, transferring to/from bathroom, use of bedpans/urinals, keeps incontinent residents clean and dry at all times, changes bed linens as necessary.
- Transfers, ambulates and positions residents to ensure comfort, prevent injury and to promote optimal levels of function.
- Sees that residents are properly clothed at all times i.e. clothing not soiled
- Follows standard procedures to provide personal grooming: trims nails, combs hair, shaves male/female residents daily and shampoos hair as indicated and informs supervisor if changes occur.
- Makes beds, tidies rooms, keeps inside of night stands, dressers and closets in orderly fashion.
- Assists resident to and at meals.
- Prepares residents for tests, X-rays, visits from physicians/dentists/therapists as directed by supervisor.
- Encourages residents to participate in recreational activities, church, facility events. Supports the residents’ full participation and assists in transporting them to/from various activities.
- Performs personal services for residents such as writing/reading letters, using TV and radio. Promotes comfort, security, independence and resident safety.
- Administers AM/PM care with particular attention to toileting, oral hygiene, bathing and settling.
- Assists and communicates effectively with relatives, visitors and guests. Directs inquiries and comments regarding resident health to nurse in charge.
- Maintains appropriate techniques in all resident care to prevent spread of disease and infection.
- Observes resident and informs nurse of any change in attitude, reactions, appetite and/or other significant physical changes as they occur.
- Answers call lights and call bells to determine resident needs.
- Answers telephone calls and immediately relays messages to the proper source. Runs errands as directed by the nurse in charge.
- Participates in routine floor duties including cleaning. Stores and prepares supplies used.
- Follows plan of action to maintain safety of the residents and others in the event of fire or disaster.
- Assists the director of Health Services with orientation of RSAs.
- Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work area. Reports safety hazards.
- Participants in in-service and other training sessions. Applies new skills on the job following training.
- Produces the highest quantity of work in the time allowed. Little time is lost in non-productive or marginally productive activities. Reliably meets deadlines. Exemplary attendance.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
- Adheres to dress code policy at all times.
- Adheres to time and attendance policy at all times.
- Practices safe work habits and follows all safety procedures of the facility.

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE: Two years of work experience.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have High School diploma or two years of related work experience.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members visitors, government agencies/staff, and the general public.
- Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to adult care facility.
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret department programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
- Must have patience, tact a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle challenging residents/associates.
- Must be able to communicate with the staff, and other department supervisors.
- Maintains a rapport with the residents and their families.
- Must be willing to seek out new methods and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
- Must attend and participate in continuing educational programs.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this facility.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthesis that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
- Must be able to climb stairs.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Will work in a well lighted and ventilated area.
- Will be subject to frequent interruptions.
- May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
- May be subject to call-backs during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)
- Is subject to injury from falls, burns, from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke and other air contaminates.
