Job Description
Purpose of the job:
In this role, you will become part of the European Innovation team that develops new ideas and prototypes aiming at automating operational processes. On a day-to-day basis, you will spend~80% of your time on building and testing solutions. As part of the team, you will work in agile methodology delivering a working prototype that addresses a particular business need. Working with the technical project manager, you will ensure the critical customer requirements are translated into technology. You will ensure the solution is properly documented and ready for internal handover to the global app dev team.
Accountabilities:
- combine Nielsen process expertise with technology skills to develop internal automation solutions
- be accountable for development of functionalities in Python/ R/ SQL
- expand your tech stack to meet new needs and adopt new internal opportunities (e.g. CIS)
- work using agile principles using the Atlassian suite
- follow best programming principles as to code documentation, versioning, testing etc
- take part in cross functional projects that aims at discovering the opportunity, building a solution and verifying it
- become internal expert on technology aspects and advice various Nielsen stakeholders
Qualifications
Requirements:
Work experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in NielsenIQ as a process expert (SDPS or SME)
- Minimum 1-year experience in NielsenIQ as project team member/ specialist delivering automation
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (STEM background will be an additional asset)
Requirements:
-Excellent analytical skills including data cleaning, mining and big data manipulation
- Able to program in at least on of the following: Python, R, SQL
-Familiarity with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
- Understanding of data science project lifecycle
- Understanding of machine learning concepts and openness to expanding skills to ML
- Understanding the technology landscape of Nielsen
- Can find and extract system information for the relevant tables
- Strong communication skills, being able to explain complex terms to non-technical audiences
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Curiosity, not stopping at the first answer
