Tactical Buyer
(This is a 100% Onsite role located at our Manufacturing facility in Coolidge, AZ)
We are currently on the lookout for a Tactical Buyer to support the Nikola Supply Chain and Purchasing Indirect team in navigating our requirements for our Coolidge manufacturing facility and Phoenix Headquarters.
You will build strong strategic relationships with key stakeholders to ensure project timing and cost targets are met.
Main Job Duties:
Working closely with our manufacturing team and vendors to obtain and develop desired products.
You will steer the sourcing to ensure continuous supply and availability of commodities. He/she is responsible for securing the best procurement solution (quality, price and timing), meeting the customer needs aligned with the relevant Procurement Strategy. The Tactical Buyer will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of the workload including, but not limited to:
- Create material requisitions, purchase orders, and RFQ’s to meet departmental requirements.
- Manage purchasing order cancellation, rescheduling or change orders (quantity, price)
- Keep detailed records of transactions. These actions create an easily accessible database of what has been purchased from whom, contact information, and particulars regarding costs and deliveries. Detect trend and opportunities within the supply base.
- Negotiate supplier pricing/terms and ensure timely delivery of goods and services within the Delegation of Authority thresholds to the Global Supply Category Strategy.
- Maintain inventory and re-order points to ensure uninterrupted service to all departments.
- Work with suppliers to resolve issues in a timely manner and coordinate goods returned for credit, repair, or replacement.
- Establish supplier lead time, consumption rates, lot sizes, and shipping parameters.
- Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and maintain up to date contracts/records.
- Track MRO spend and pricing to develop and identify cost saving opportunities.
- Monitor shipments to ensure that goods are delivered on time and evaluate accuracy of invoices and receipts.
- Work with departments and vendors to strategically stock and refill consumable stations throughout the plant.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering is recommended.
Related Work Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of purchasing related (scope maintenance, repair, industrial consumables and services, CAPEX and packaging).
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels (verbal and written).
- Effective negotiator with problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel and Word. Familiar with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus).
- Good organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects while meeting critical timing schedules.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Manufacturing experience (automotive manufacturing preferred).
- Must be very detail oriented.
- Must be highly motivated and comfortable with change and a fast-paced environment.
- Understands the supply chain process to detect areas we can improve and streamline.
- Work collaboratively within internal teams to propose and implement solutions.
Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
