The Materials Manager oversees the storage, control, flow, and distribution of materials in the warehouse overseeing a group of material handlers and interacting with different departments. This position will work closely with Program Management, Logistics, and Production to ensure Nikola's Material Operations enable the factory to be successful.
You will:
* Direct the day-to-day efforts of the Materials Operation team
* Design and implement KPIs that meet business objectives
* Design and implement inventory control policies and procedures
* Manage inventory risk and ensure that contingency plans are in place
* Lead cycle count and inventory reconciliation, ensuring each processing area has reconciled variances
* Proactively investigate and resolve production control problems
* Ensure strategic and operational reports and metrics are available to share with others in the business as and when required
* Report on achievement of targets and identify any corrective action
* Champion continuous improvement activities
* Ensure adherence to all safety policies and procedures
* Perform other related duties as assigned
You'll need:
* Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline
* 7 years' related experience in materials management, warehousing, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment is required; Automotive or Class 8 truck preferred
* 5 years' experience managing large teams in high volume manufacturing
* Strong analytical capabilities - including data analysis to optimize plans relative to different constraint factors (equipment capacity, staffing plans, material availability) is required
* Advanced proficiency in analytical and reporting tools (MS Excel, Tableau) is strongly desired
* Experience managing change thru a factory (i.e., New Product Introductions)
* Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
* Excellent attention to detail
* Strong communication skills (written & verbal)
* Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail
* Strong sense of ownership, urgency & positive attitude
* Must have good interpersonal skills
