Job Summary
Reporting to the NJEDA Chief of Staff, the Aide to the CEO will support a variety of initiatives and priority projects to support the Executive Office and promote NJEDA’s programs and products. The Aide will also support the work of the intergovernmental affairs, communications and events, and policy teams.
$51,138 - $56,820
Note: The NJEDA currently offers a hybrid work schedule for up to 2 days of telecommute work from home. To participate, you will be required to have high speed home internet access and a managers approval. This program does not supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired NJEDA employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Drafts and prepares briefing memos, talking points and other written materials for the CEO and the Chief of Staff for use with external parties.
- Provides support to the Intergovernmental Affairs team, including for outreach initiatives and drafting of correspondence to legislators and legislative offices.
- Conducts research and analysis support for the Policy team.
- Tracks all NJEDA staff travel requiring approval from the Governors Authorities Unit and coordinates with the Events and Ethics teams.
- Provides support to the Communications and Marketing Department for events and communications efforts.
- Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned by the Chief of Staff.
- Promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, NJEDA staff and external customers.
- Must complete annual and semi-annual self-assessment, as required.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong analytical, writing and proofreading skills and proficient use of proper grammar and punctuation.
- Ability to undertake research, draft documents, and summarize in an easily understandable format
- Ability to prioritize workload, must be highly organized, detail-oriented, handle various tasks simultaneously and work independently within limited time constraints with little or no supervision
- Ability to effectively interface with a broad range of audiences including senior management, staff, government officials, and other external partners
- Demonstrate ability to gain a thorough knowledge and understanding of NJEDA programs and services
- Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, and familiarity with social media platforms.
- Demonstrates respectful behavior and promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among divisions, EDA staff and external customers.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and deal effectively and diplomatically with business professionals and EDA staff.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
- Associates degree or equivalent experience; college degree preferred.
- 2-5 years Full-time employment or internship experience in working with public or elected officials’ offices, governmental offices, or state agencies required.

- License: Staff are required to possess a valid driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essentials duties of the position

Position Requirements
