Job Responsibility: Responsible for Operating unit product quality assessment and improvement. Works with Process Engineers, Operations management and employees to improve the product quality through standard practices, process control and understanding customer requirements. Works with Technical Service Engineers to evaluate, communicate and translate customer requirements to mill practices. Provides technical assistance and quality support to the Operations Management group at NLMK.

- Follows all Safety policies and ensures that all safety issues are addressed in a timely manner
- Must be trustworthy in all areas of professional and personal performance.
- Report Day/WTD/MTD/YTD quality performance metrics.
- Ensures that technical standards and work instructions to ensure product quality and NLMK Production System (NPS) requirements are implemented and followed.
- Collect and analyze data for product and process quality improvement, communicate necessary changes to process, practices, or measurement.
- Understand technical processes in operating areas and application of quality standards. Train workforce on Quality Standards.
- Participate and occasionally lead Corrective Action and Continuous Improvement activity, including identifying problems and proposing solutions.
- Interface with the GM Quality and other Engineers on translating customer quality requirements to the mill, gathers data and analyzes any trials. Create, execute, analyze and report on designed experiments
- Interface with the Operating Group, including Management, Process Engineers and hourly employees to make real time decisions on mill control, measurement and operating practices for satisfactory production.
- Evaluate Operating Unit product quality of material produced and disposition as prime, rework or reclass.
- Observe product quality at outside processing and customer units as necessary to evaluate product quality and disposition product
- Perform other related work, as required
- Minimum requirement is a B.S. degree in metallurgical engineering or related materials science curriculum.
- Requires solid metallurgical skills and abilities to provide technical advice and direction to the organization.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in written form.
- Ability to manipulate and analyze data and make critical decisions.
