Description:

Develop and maintain an efficient, cost effective export operation. Measure plan to actual and develop and implement corrective action, as necessary. Develop and implement information and administrative systems to support export services and programs. Develop relationships with local vendors. Train and develop staff to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and direct export department team members to perform all assigned operations functions.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations (TSA, CBP, etc.).
  • Develop and implement measures, standards, and operational processes to ensure high quality services for customers. Perform regular evaluations of results accomplished.
  • Ensure the accuracy of data and conduct accurate review and closeout of files.
  • Implement continuous improvement plans and actions to ensure steady progress is made in export documentation, customer relations, rating, quoting, booking, tracking, and invoicing activities.
  • Maintain courteous, prompt, and efficient customer relations.
  • Help select, train, and develop qualified personnel.
  • Prepare timely management information and reports as specified and requested.
  • Oversee the routing and rating of all export shipments booked.
  • Oversee the pick-up and transfer of shipments with appropriate partners.
  • Establish and maintain all necessary procedures to assure a clean, properly organized, safe, and healthy environment for all personnel. Maintain all facilities and equipment in a good state of repair.
  • Ensure compliance with Hazardous Materials regulations.
  • Ensure all export vendors meet service standards and provide Noatum Logistics with the best possible price and service. Adhere to established credit policies.
  • Ensure export documentation is accurately processed, distributed, and released to steamship lines, airlines, freight forwarders, customers, and agents in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain successful relationships with local vendors (e.g., steamship line representatives, airlines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, local pickup and delivery companies, regional trucking companies, line haul providers).
  • Treat proprietary information with the utmost confidentiality and maintain the security of computer systems.
  • As a joint responsibility with the Branch Manager, develop and maintain an office atmosphere conducive to continual growth of employees.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of managerial or leadership experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in international freight forwarding
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Strong customer relations ability with analytical and technical skills that can be utilized to produce creative ideas/solutions
  • Demonstrated successful negotiation and customer satisfaction skills
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skill.
  • Demonstrated organizational and management experience, including process improvement techniques
  • Demonstrated analytical, business planning and problem-solving skills. Ability to develop trend analyses and helps to build baseline of information with respect to the clients’ activity.
  • Ability to present client business review information through on-site meetings and formal presentations
  • Working knowledge of PC and business applications (including Microsoft Office)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CargoWise experience
  • 3 years of supervisory experience
  • 7 years or more of transportation/logistics experience. Preferred areas of experience are carrier contracting/negotiation, transportation operations (Air, FCL, & LCL, etc.) and transportation management systems.
  • College degree in business, transportation, logistics or equivalent combination of experience and education

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Activities include extended periods of sitting while working at a computer and occasional fast-paced operations and events.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and co-workers. Regular use of the telephone, virtual meetings, and e-mail for communication. Hearing, vision, and speaking within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
  • Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computers, calculator, and copiers.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to grasp, handle, or feel and operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keypad.
