The Systems Engineer Applies comprehensive system engineering principles to support the investigation, analysis, planning, design, development, implementation, testing, and evaluation of NAS equipment and procedures. This would include automation, communications, navigation and surveillance elements of the NAS. Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analysis reports, and other technical and safety documentation. May analyze, design, develop, implement and test software related to engineering or functional requirements of NAS and associated support systems. Drafts system/safety project plans, justifications, guidelines, and controls. Recommends development and design changes to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Provides expertise in the transition of legacy systems to modernized systems. Systems engineers with appropriate expertise will support all aspects of FAA safety management activities involving measures to mitigate hazards or reduce risks to an acceptable level, verification that mitigation measures are incorporated into product design and implementation, and assessment of residual risk and any other safety related activities.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Support the ongoing design, development, deployment, and maintenance, including:
- Requirements development
- Software design, development, test, and deployment
- Provide input to requirements, architecture, and design
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise to other existing and emerging programs within the FAA
- Review and develop documentation to include, but not limited to: requirements documents, interface description documents, training material, technical instruction material, maintenance plans
- Keep capability information sources (capability web pages, NAS Service Registry/Repository) up-to-date
- Hold and document regular meetings for various projects
- Convey requirements for, and enter and track orders for infrastructure services and resources
- Participate in TIMs
- Prepare and review program technical documentation
- Conduct vendor technical proposal evaluation
Work Location: William J. Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City, NJ
Client Engagement
· Learn about the Noblis business development life-cycle, processes, tools, and account structure · Contribute specialized domain or technical content to proposal sections or client white papers · Build a productive relationship with your client and understand their structure and goals.Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in EE, Computer Science and 3 years of relevant experience. 6 years of experience may be substituted for the degree.
- Software development experience using JavaScript, or PHP, or Python
- Sofware development with REST APIS and related technologies
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting COTS software running on Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred
- Experience working in a Agile development environment
- Experience in the use of SVN, Git, and/or other configuration management software
- Familiarity with PKI concepts and implementations
Desired Qualifcations:
- Experience using automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet
- Experience with supporting systems in the FAA NAS
- Experience with PKI
- Experience with implementation of Enterprise security controls including Enterprise Authentication and Authorization capabilities
