Metrologist

SCHEDULE:
Monday through Thursday 6pm to 4am
DESCRIPTION:
The Metrologist is responsible for performing First Article Inspections, capability studies and Measurement Systems Analysis on injection molded plastic parts. The position requires use of manual/open setup measurement equipment as well as operation of automated measuring equipment (ie. Vision and Coordinate Measurement Machines).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform first piece inspections, capability studies, and DOE (Design of Experiments) using measuring and test equipment with include, but not limited to:
Programmable CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and video measurement equipment
Profilometers or surface finish testers
Gear and roundness checkers
Hand held measuring tools such as height gauges, micrometers, calipers, and pin gauges
Conduct Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gauge R & R) studies to validate setups and/or measuring systems
Generate Gauge R & R, First Article Inspection, Capability Studies, DOEs, and other dimensional reports using Microsoft Excel and other database software packages
Adhere to and comply with the Metrology Lab procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to follow written instructions and standard guidelines
Ability to operate pre-programmed video and CMM equipment
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Strong team mentality and attention to detail
Preferred: Experience with dimensional inspection
Preferred: Knowledge of blue print reading, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
Preferred: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
