Metrologist

SCHEDULE:

Monday through Thursday 6pm to 4am

DESCRIPTION:

The Metrologist is responsible for performing First Article Inspections, capability studies and Measurement Systems Analysis on injection molded plastic parts. The position requires use of manual/open setup measurement equipment as well as operation of automated measuring equipment (ie. Vision and Coordinate Measurement Machines).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform first piece inspections, capability studies, and DOE (Design of Experiments) using measuring and test equipment with include, but not limited to:

• Programmable CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and video measurement equipment

• Profilometers or surface finish testers

• Gear and roundness checkers

• Hand held measuring tools such as height gauges, micrometers, calipers, and pin gauges

• Conduct Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gauge R & R) studies to validate setups and/or measuring systems

• Generate Gauge R & R, First Article Inspection, Capability Studies, DOEs, and other dimensional reports using Microsoft Excel and other database software packages

• Adhere to and comply with the Metrology Lab procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to follow written instructions and standard guidelines

• Ability to operate pre-programmed video and CMM equipment

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Strong team mentality and attention to detail

• Preferred: Experience with dimensional inspection

• Preferred: Knowledge of blue print reading, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)

• Preferred: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
