What are the responsibilities and job description for the PTA - PRN - Magruder Hospital position at NOMS Healthcare?
Job Summary:
As a physical therapist assistant, you will work under the direction and supervision of physical therapists. PTA will help patients who are recovering from injuries and illnesses regain movement and manage pain.
Essential Functions:
1. Observe patients before, during, and after therapy, noting patient status and reporting it to a physical therapist.
2. Help patients do specific exercises as part of the plan of care.
3. Treat patients using a variety of techniques, such as massage and stretching.
4. Use devices and equipment, such as walkers, to help patients.
5. Educate a patient and family members about what to do after treatment.
6. Clean treatment areas and set up therapy equipment.
Competencies:
1. Ability to read and comprehend patient information.
2. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education and Work Experience:
1. Bachelor’s Degree
Certificates and Licenses Required:
1. Current Physical Therapist Assistant license in the state of Ohio.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
Physical Therapist Assistants may spend a lot of time on their feet while working with patients. May be required to lift and move patients or heavy equipment. Many work in multiple facilities and have to travel from one job to another. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases.
Physical/Mental Demands:
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 10 pounds.
