Position Description:
The Lead Teacher implements and supervises the curriculum and daily program activities for the assigned classroom while maintaining program quality in accordance with ECERS/ITERS, Keystone Stars guidelines, PA Pre-K Counts standards, DPW Regulations, and Bright Futures LC program policies. This individual provides age-appropriate instruction to the children in their care and ensures their safety and well-being. The Lead Teacher supervises up to eight staff members working directly in classrooms with up to 20 children in each classroom.
Purpose:
- Ensure the children build a solid foundation for life.
- Nurture the children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Attend to the children’s safety and welfare.
- Encourage family engagement in all aspects of the program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Uphold the vision, mission, professionalism, and philosophies of Bright Futures Learning Centers
- Lead by example with passion, enthusiasm, and thoughtful leadership practices
- Establish a warm, welcoming, safe, nurturing classroom environment.
- Follow the organization’s curriculum using a consistent schedule.
- Guide children’s behavior in positive, effective ways
- Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, socialization, cooperation, and choice-making.
- Supervise and monitor children, responding appropriately to crisis or emergency situations.
- Assess individual and group needs, attending to specific strengths, interests, and concerns.
- Promote parental involvement in the classroom.
- Support the role of families as the primary teachers of their children.
- Communicate with families, including mail, sign-off to authorized adults, cell phones, etc.
- Maintain complete and accurate records.
- Other duties as requested by the Program Coordinator
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Early Childhood Education
- PA Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood Education as required by the PA Pre-K counts program and DPW. N-3 or PK-4 Certification
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Ability to actively participate in activities related to the age of the group.
- Commitment to developing and caring for young minds.
- Willingness to participate in continuing professional development.
- Clearences needed within 14 days of hire.
- Clear child abuse/police/drug screening
- Clear physical (every year) and clear TB screening
- Confirmation of certifications and/or degree
Salary Range:
$50,000-$62,000 based on experience in the field.
