**Incumbent eligible for a $500 signing bonus payable after 6 months of continuous service **

Position Summary: The Shuttle Driver Lead drives gasoline, natural gas, or diesel-powered tractor trailer combination to safely transport and deliver products in loose or packaged form. The Shuttle Driver Lead also provides training and leadership to other Shuttle Drivers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all safety procedures and work as safe as possible at all times.
- Safely drives truck to destination.
- Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Maintains driver log according to DOT regulations.
- Assists workers in loading and unloading trailers.
- Drops and hooks trailers.
- Provides relief coverage to co-workers during their breaks, meal period, and/or PTO.
- Trains co-workers on duties and responsibilities of Shuttle Drivers.
- Directs work duties of other staff during shift.
- Provides leadership to co-workers.
- Provides occasional coverage for Dispatch.
- Provides feedback to manager regarding coworkers’ performance.
- Assist manager with paperwork such as fuel, shuttle tracking, and dispatch.
- Helps to monitor drivers hours of service for compliance.
- Must comply with all regulatory requirements per the Department of Transportation (DOT) and comply with all pre-employment physicals and on-going random Department of Transportation (DOT) drug screens.
- General
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere and interaction with customers, co-workers, and management.
- Work scheduled shift, weekends, and extended hours as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Regular and punctual attendance.
- To perform this job successfully, must be able to perform each fundamental task listed above satisfactorily.
Competencies:
- Must be able to operate 3 axle tractor and trailer safely.
- Ability to operate 10 speed, 9 speed, and automatic transmission.
- Ability to competently pull 53’, 48’ and 45’ trailers.
- Able to accurately complete all Federal and State mandated paperwork, logbooks, daily vehicle inspections, etc.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D) and one year of truck driving experience or -or- an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Must possess current class “A” driver’s license.
- Possesses a current Hazmat Endorsement, preferred.
- Clean DMV driving record.
Language Skills: English is required, and the ability to speak Spanish is desirable.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Assists the supervisor with leadership of the department and staff.
