Applies advanced technical skills and knowledge in the performance of inspection and evaluation of incoming aerostructure parts, components and subsystems of operational aircraft for overhaul and/or repair through interpretation of original equipment manufacturer technical data and Company technical data to ensure compliance to FAA regulations and customer requirements.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities
- Of the following list of functions & responsibilities, all may or may not be performed in each EVALUATOR role:
- Provides complete evaluation of and defines the processes for reconditioning, repair or replacement of aerostructure parts, components and subsystems of operational aircraft that are varied but generally not complex of products and processes requiring some skill and experience.
- Identifies incoming items and determine their overall condition.
- Determines the proper inspection criteria and obtains the appropriate technical data to determine the inspection points and processes required to completely evaluate the item for repair.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, standard repair manuals, overhaul and repair manuals, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) technical documentation such as Service Bulletins, Illustrated Parts Catalog, Airworthiness Directives and customer supplied technical data.
- Makes an independent judgment concerning repairs, with the focus on providing both the customer and Company with the best and most economical repairs and repair processes.
- Performs inspection of incoming items to appropriate standards using precision close tolerance measuring tools such as scales, micrometers, calipers, height and depth gauges.
- Works from engineering drawings and other technical documentation.
- Performs disassembly of components to facilitate part flow and determines the condition of the item and the extent of the wear or damage; support disassembly, salvage and scrap activities, as necessary.
- Determines the manufacturing and repair processes required to bring the item to FAA airworthiness standards.
- Requests engineering review, analysis and disposition of damage or wear as required.
- Consults with engineering to navigate and initiate Engineering Work Orders and prepares a preliminary Bill of Material for the required repairs.
- Participates in Continuous Improvement events to drive process flow improvements; develops and writes work instructions to document processes in support of CI.
- Participates in the management of salvage part overhaul processing and supports salvage part movement through shop and warehouse.
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment. |
Minimum Qualifications | Education Requirements
Minimum High School or GED. Preferred Vocational / Technical. Aircraft or manufacturing processes. If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.Experience Requirements 4 year(s) Aerostructure mechanic, aerostructure inspector or evaluator. Skills and Competencies - Uses close tolerance measuring tools such as scales, micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges.
- Reads, comprehends and interprets blueprints, technical manuals and other technical documentation issued by the FAA, the Company and original equipment manufacturers.
- Vision and Audio Test per 14 CFR Part 145.155 (and C.A.S.E.1-A Standard Section 5.E.2.C.).
- Ability and willingness to assist and transfer technical knowledge to less experienced Stakeholders.

Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can vary from loud to a more moderate level. |
