Communications Business Partner

Job Summary

The Communications Business Partner is responsible for providing hands-on support to develop, implement, and drive communication and brand strategies for the organization. This position serves as a strategic partner for internal divisions and is accountable for working with leaders across the organization to successfully implement communication plans in support of organizational and brand strategy. This position relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals, build relationships, and provide strong project management for company initiatives and projects.

Essential Functions

Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Serves in a customer-facing role for the Brand & Marketing Communication division and is the "voice" of internal and external customers in developing communication strategies and supporting tactics.
  • Works to identify corporate communication objectives and priorities and develops tactics to advance those.
  • Advises stakeholders on application of communications industry standards and best practices to meet business and brand integration needs.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to produce effective communication campaigns and materials, as well as evaluate satisfaction with results.
  • Reviews and tracks project requests to determine best course of action and coordinates activities accordingly.
  • Coordinates development and management of content for a variety of channels including websites, digital screens, and print.
  • Manages social media accounts.
  • Demonstrates expertise and knowledge of effective use of earned, owned, and paid communication channels.
  • Fosters positive and collaborative day-to-day relationships with internal divisions and departments, as well as external consultants.
  • Develops clear understanding of business drivers and strategies for delivering clear messages.
  • Drives cultural transformation through strong communication, positive influence, and strategic thinking.

Non-Essential Duties and Functions

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provides assistance as needed for media inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Project Management, or related field OR equivalent work experience
  • 3 years' experience in communication, writing, and/or marketing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint with an aptitude to continue to learn and enhance skills
  • Strong collaboration, project management, organization, and relationship management skills
  • Takes initiative and has strong creativity skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience and skills in understanding business requirements and translating these requirements into an internal communications strategy and implementation program that supports (and flexes with) these requirements
  • Ability to work within a team (or teams) while sharing best practices

Preferred Qualifications

Above requirements and the following:

  • 5 years' experience in communications, writing, and/or marketing
  • Demonstrated success in relationship building with organizational leaders as well as collaborating with and influencing stakeholders

  • Ability to read, hear, speak, keyboard, reason, communicate effectively and problem solve
  • Requires prolonged sitting and telephone use
  • Requires the use of office equipment such as computer terminals, telephones, copiers and printers
  • Infrequent lifting to 15 pounds
  • Infrequent stooping
