Primary Purpose:
To assist the principal in providing instructional leadership, supervision, and management at assigned campus(es). Is responsible for ensuring that student achievement is improved and that other key NSD objectives are met.
Reports to: Building Principal
Supervises: School staff certified and non -certified as assigned
Pay Grade: Adminstrative Salary Schedule
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provides effective instructional and curricular leadership.
- Provides for supervision and management for the instructional program.
- Participates in the selection of personnel assigned to the school.
- Responsible for the evaluation of all staff members assigned to the building.
- Exerts leadership in the adaptation of the general program of education approved for the schools to meet the needs of the community served.
- Provide meaningful professional development for the staff.
- Communicate the vision of the instructional program to students, staff and community.
- Promote and maintain a positive school climate.
- Promote and maintain appropriate student behavior in accordance with the unified discipline code.
- Provide for effective day to day operation of the school.
- Administers the school’s budget in order to meet the needs of the school.
- Implement board policies, administrative rules and regulations as it relates to the school.
- Prepares such reports as may be required.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Oral and written communication skills
- Experience with curriculum development and curriculum design
- Ability to develop short and long range plans to improve student achievement
- Knowledge of student assessment and how to use the data in planning for improvement of instruction
- Possess knowledge of integrating technology into the teaching/learning process
- Ability to work with and galvanize a school team
- Management skills and demonstrated ability in planning, organizing, task completion and decision making
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Masters Degree in Education
- Possess or be eligible for Missouri Certification as an Elementary School Administrator
- Experience in a multi-cultural school population
- Three (3) years of school teaching experience preferred
