Job Summary
Position: Quality Manager Aerospace Machine Shop
Our firm is a well-established and growing precision machined parts manufacturer and we are seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to join our team.
We manufacture close tolerance precision machine parts for the Defense and Aerospace industries and this multi role position is ideal for that ambitious person wishing to help grow our company towards success.
The successful candidate will have the right mix of staff managerial and people skills, auditing, AS9100 and hands on inspection experience.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Work with the General Manager to meet product quality and production goals.
- Supervise a small team of mechanical inspectors; mentor them, direct and train the QA staff
- Serve as customer Point of Contact for customer Quality issues.
- Manage and maintain the AS9100 and ISO certifications and company quality manuals
- Manage quality audits conducted by our customers or AS Registrar
- Perform Internal Audits and supplier audits.
- Respond to Customer corrective action requests. Conduct Root Cause analysis and complete the corrective action response.
- Supervise the daily in-process, first article and final inspection of precision machined parts the quality team.
- Supervise preparation of First Article AS9102 reports
- Supervises the maintenance of tool and gage calibration and records
- Participate in production meetings, representing the Quality Department, and reporting back to your team action items.
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent communications and leadership skills, speaking, writing, email is required.
- Able to schedule and direct the team, mentor, train and supervise. - Must be fluent in English and able to communicate effectively.
- Minimum 5 Years experience as a mechanical inspector or as a machinist in a machine shop environment is acceptable.
- Experience maintaining AS9100 and or ISO9001 quality systems
- Experience conducting Internal Audits and audits of subcontractors
- Experience responding to and writing Corrective Actions
- Experience with inspection hand tools, such as mics, indicators, height gages, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret GD&T ANSI Y14.5 engineering drawings
- Shop math, trig, knowledge required
- Computer skills, such as email use, MS Word, Excel creation, PDF file saving,
- US Citizenship required or equivalent
Additional Desired Requirements:
- Preference is given to candidates with prior supervisory experience
- Experience with PCDMIS CMM software programs is desired
- Experience with inspecting parts made to Aerospace / Defense industry specifications

This is a full time position in our air conditioned facility.
Monday through Thursday, First shift, working four 10s. Overtime is possible.
