Hours Required: Monday/Thursday/Friday 12p-6pm; Saturday's 9a-1pm
Position Summary: Community Engagement Specialist (CES) is responsible for NCCI- Mayfair/Paradise Family Success Center communication vehicles to include newsletters, brochures, and pamphlets, development of community, partner, and prospect funder presentations. The CES will also assists with the planning and implementation of Mayfair/Paradise community deliverables and special events. Develop and implement a series of outreach activities through community partnerships and special events. Responsible for the development and implementation of adult, youth, mentor and community initiatives for NCCI as well as oversee performance outcomes that are respective to the Community. CES will conduct community surveys to collect data, and demographics to track progress of community initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Must be a DC Resident (Preference goes to Ward 7 residents)
- Ability to write and speak well
- Ability to develop work plans, facilitate meetings with staff, and manage outcomes
- Ability to interface with people of different cultures, social and economic backgrounds
- Ability to organize materials and activities
- Ability to use computer software
- Minimally high school diploma. Some college preferred. Bachelor’s degree in a human service-related field, education, or communications (preferred)
- Three to five-year work history and/or volunteer experience with nonprofit
- Possess a unique knowledge of the client population by having worked or lived in the community or similar communities of high risk.
- Individual should be able to walk around apartment complexes to engage with residents, and climb up and down stairs
- The position should be able to lift/move general office supplies, files or boxes up to 10 pounds
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid driver’s license, copy of driving record, and proof of valid auto insurance; FBI Clearance, local police clearance, DC Child Abuse Registry Clearance; TB Screening; Drug and Alcohol Screening
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs. May require assistance with our Food Pantry, and Diaper Village and navigate stairs, etc.
