Description of Work
Murdoch Developmental Center, Butner NC
A Sign-on bonus of $3000 for the successful applicant(s) of this posting.

- assigning staff to work areas and assess staffing needs
- make monthly time schedules or appropriate changes for coverage
- instruct staff in correct procedures
- orient staff trainees
- conduct performance appraisals for assigned staff or assist as necessary (Youth Program Education Assistant I & II levels)
- counsel staff as needed
- schedule staff for in-service programs
- inform staff of changes in schedules and staffing
- work with professional staff in planning and scheduling off-campus events and/or trips.
Administrative duties include:
- working with unit managers to fill vacancies
- interviewing applicants
- assisting with decisions on transfers or promotions
- plan tours
- purchase needed items and supplies
- solve problems and take disciplinary action.
Work Schedule: 2nd shift, 2:30pm - 11:00pm, 5 days/week with rotating weekends and holidays. Schedule will be adjusted as needed/requested.
This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance, paid sick/vacation/holidays, retirement, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
- experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
- experience training and supervising staff
- valid NC drivers license
- ability to communicate observations and recommendations effectively in written and oral form
- ability to convey information clearly to family members and treatment team members
- ability to relate positively to children/youth/young adults, families, and professional staff
- ability to carry out and make on-the-spot decisions about behavior intervention programs, especially in crisis situations
- ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- ability to maintain professional and even-tempered demeanor and work relationships
- ability to learn behavior management and supportive counseling techniques
- Knowledge of positioning and lifting techniques
- experience working with behavior modification techniques
- considerable knowledge of facility services, policies, procedures, and operations
- knowledge of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid.
- experience working with individuals with extreme behavioral challenges
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate s Degree in human services or related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related work experience
or
High school or General Educational Development diploma and four years of directly related work experience
or
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications As required by facility, CPR certification and listing as a Nurse Aide I or Nurse Aide II by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation required prior to providing direct patient care.
CNA certification is not required.
