North Star Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) network providing comprehensive primary medical, dental, behavioral health and supportive and enabling services. We are committed to population health and improving the health status and quality of life of our service area residents through innovation, community partnerships and the sound stewardship of corporate assets.
North Star has recently exited a corporate affiliation and is in a transitional phase. The transition includes the development of internal/stand-alone finance functions which are currently outsourced. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will play the lead role in managing the financial systems transition including coordinating with the current service provider. In the short-run we are looking for a proven self-starter with the ability to evaluate current and recommend and deploy new financial systems. On a longer horizon (3-5 years), we are seeking an innovative and creative individual committed to developing the knowledge and working relationships that would allow this individual to assume CFO responsibilities and play a key senior leadership role in navigating North Star’s future.
Major duties and responsibilities for the Controller include:
- Produce timely and accurate financial reports. Coordinate annual audit and 990 preparation.
- Perform/Supervise monthly journal entries and account reconciliations. Supervise Accounts Payable and Treasury functions.
- Enhance/monitor grant accounting and associated record keeping.
- Support operational analysis, annual operating budget development and operational analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
- Three (3) - Five (5) years' experience as a Senior Accountant or Controller in a non-profit, preferably healthcare setting.
- Prior experience with general ledger system selection and implementation (strongly preferred)
- Prior experience with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) reimbursement and grant funding (preferred)
- Well developed technical accounting skills
- Strong communicator, team player, ability to supervise/delegate
- Ability to evaluate, develop and enhance current financial reporting systems Self-starter with ability and willingness to expand knowledge and capabilities

Salary : $77,000 - $97,500
