What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Cardiovascular Lab - PRN position at NORTHEASTERN HEALTH SYSTEM?
Schedule: Day, Four 10 Hour Shifts, 7am
Position Summary
The Cardiovascular Lab Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for assigned patients according to established procedures, communicates with the physician continuously regarding the patient’s condition and assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory.
Position Accountabilities
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards
Responsible for admitting, recovering and discharging of patients from the cath lab. Provides follow up as required.
Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other health team members as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
Performs a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy, including post-procedure assessments.
Adapts nursing procedure to meet the needs for treatment of individual adult and geriatric patients.
Assists in maintenance and handling of special equipment, monitors and instruments.
Positions patients safely; pads and protects bony prominences.
Carries out medical and surgical asepsis during all procedures.
Demonstrates competence in preparing and cleaning of procedure rooms before and between cases and after terminal care.
Carries out established techniques for safe administration of medications, contrast and parenteral
fluids as per facility policies and procedures.
Ensures pre-op checklist is complete before patient is taken into procedure room.
Assists the scrub with gowning.
Documents patient data during the procedure.
Performs all duties of circulating and scrub nurses.
Utilizes initiative, self-motivation, manages time and activity appropriately.
Demonstrates knowledge of radiation safety.
Completes annual educational requirements.
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Follows policies and procedures regarding attendance and work hours, including necessary “on call” hours in order to meet the needs of the department.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
RN Cardiovascular Lab I
Minimum Education - Associate Degree, Graduate of accredited school of nursing
Minimum Experience - 0-11 months Nursing Experience
Preferred Experience - Up to one year acute care nursing
Required Certification/Registration - Current Okla. RN license;
Preferred Certification/Registration - BLS, ACLS, Basic Rhythm Interpretation (Completion may be within 6 months of hire date)
RN Cardiovascular Lab II
Minimum Education - Associate Degree, Graduate of accredited school of nursing
Preferred Education - Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum Experience - 1 years of Nursing Experience
Preferred Experience - Greater than 1 year nursing experience in med-surg, CCU, or ICU
Required Certification/Registration - Current Okla. RN license; BCLS certification
Preferred Certification/Registration - Basic Rhythm Interpretation (Completion may be within 6
months of hire date), CCRN
RN Cardiovascular III
Minimum Education - Associate Degree, Graduate of accredited school of nursing
Preferred Education - Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Minimum Experience - 2 years of cardiac catheterization lab
Preferred Experience - 6 months to 1 year nursing in ER, ICU or critical care
Required Certification/Registration - Current Okla. RN license; BLS & ACLS certification, Basic
Rhythm Interpretation
Preferred Certification/Registration - CVRN, CCRN, RCIS
