POSITION: Part-time, Adjunct Instructor in Outdoor Education, Leadership, and Tourism department.
RESPONSIBILITIES: NVU’s AIARE level 1 and rescue course meets for 5 full days, Mondays, 1/24, 1/31, 2/7, 2/14, 2/28, from 7:30 am – 5 pm. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of curriculum and risk management.

Course description: This course focuses on recognition of avalanche terrain, planning and preparation for travel in avalanche terrain, applying the decision making framework, and learning effective companion rescue techniques. Students successfully completing the course earn American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) Level I and Avalanche Rescue course completion.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree. Candidates must be a licensed AIARE instructor. Some teaching experience is preferable.
