Job Description:

Northgate Environmental Management, Inc., an environmental science and engineering firm headquartered in Oakland, California, is recruiting for field technicians for our Oakland office. The ideal candidate for this position has the skills and willingness to apply knowledge to a variety of environmental projects, including groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, soil gas and air sampling, treatment system operations and maintenance, and remediation implementation. Responsibilities may include performing field inspections, collecting environmental samples, installing monitoring wells, monitoring the storage, handling, and disposal of environmental investigation-derived waste, and writing clear, concise field notes under the supervision of Northgate project and task managers.​ Applicants should be well-organized, professional, and possess communication skills suitable for contractor and subcontractor interface. We are seeking a highly motivated self-starter who can prioritize duties and assist Northgate’s engineers and geologists as needed in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment.

Minimum Applicant Requirements:

· Relevant bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience

· A minimum of 3 to 5 years of related job experience

· Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record

· Familiarity with environmental data collection methods

· Personable and good verbal and written communication skills (high proficiency in English required)

· Self-starter, resourceful, and eager to learn, with the ability to work productively on multiple projects concurrently under strict deadlines and budgets

· Strong attention to detail

· Willingness to work in the field (requires lifting and moderately strenuous physical activity) and travel as necessary

· Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification

Projects will primarily be based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Multiple positions may be filled. We anticipate a mid-summer hire date.

Salary Range: $50k to $70k
