NorthLakes Community Clinic is proud to be a Community Health Center.  Community Health Centers provide care to everyone, including those with commercial insurance, those with government insurance (Medicaid and Medicare) and those without insurance. In addition, Community Health Centers provide comprehensive, integrated, whole-person care including medical, dental, behavioral health and prescription services.

NorthLakes is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for our Hayward Clinic.  The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday. The purpose of a Medical Laboratory Technician is to collect and analyze patient specimens in a safe and organized fashion. A successful MLT will communicate expectations and experiences with every patient, every time. This position will perform routine testing in the medical laboratory to provide data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• The MLT performs routine testing in the medical laboratory to provide data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
• Interprets the provider's orders and secures a requisition before performing the test.
• Obtains the correct amount and type of specimen.
• Draws blood from patient's finger, ear lobe, or vein, observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood samples.
• Conducts quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid, under the supervision of a medical technologist.
• Performs blood counts.
• Conducts blood tests for transfusion purposes.
• Completes appropriate collection, routing, handling, and processing of various medical specimens.
• Performs tests in an accurate and timely manner.
• Informs providers of lab results.
• Documents all requests and results of lab work accurately.
• Works with the EMR to record and report all patient results
• Recognizes abnormalities and notifies providers immediately.
• Performs daily quality control and cleaning procedures per guidelines.
• Orders and stocks supplies as needed.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician;
• PLUS an MLT certification.
• Must possess a high degree of attention to detail and the ability to understand and follow procedures.
• Must have the ability to pass the Wisconsin Caregiver Background check.
• CPR certification required within 6 months of employment.

Preferences:

• Experience working in an Electronic Health Record (EHR)
• A successful candidate will have great communication skills.

Wage

• $20.05-$23.76/hour depending on experience
