Product Marketing Specialist

NorthOne
San Francisco, CA Remote Full Time
POSTED ON 12/6/2021 CLOSED ON 12/28/2021

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Marketing Specialist position at NorthOne?

We make small businesses more successful through better banking.

Our company is looking for a Product Marketing Specialist to join our growing team as we enter a new phase of expansion. We are a San Francisco, New York, Portland, and Toronto-based, remote-friendly, venture-backed startup at the heart of the FinTech movement that is shaping the way financial services are delivered. We are backed by some of the best VCs in the world (Battery, Redpoint, Tom Williams and more) and are growing fast.

Our story

Our company’s purpose is to eliminate the pain that small business owners face through financial management and banking. To achieve this, we’re rebuilding business banking from the ground up. Imagine you could start with a clean slate and think of a different way to deliver banking to small businesses. What would you change? How can you help them? These are the decisions that we make every day.

Our product

NorthOne is a mobile, tech-powered account built for startups, freelancers, and small/medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Poor financial literacy has an outsized impact on the costs and failure rates amongst SMBs, especially among the marginalized and less fortunate, and we are on a mission to eliminate these problems. We are more than a banking platform – we are the world-class Finance Department that most small businesses could never afford.

Our team

We ❤ Product Marketing. As a Product Marketing Specialist, you will help support the development and execution of our product marketing strategy. You will report into our Product Marketing Lead and work closely with our world-class growth, product and creative teams. You’ll also benefit from our experienced management team, who have already created and exited startups and come from leadership roles at brands like Square, McKinsey, Google, Frank and Oak, Strava, Instacart, Prodigy, Oportun, eBay and more.

We’re building a product that solves real pain vs the imagined kind. Small businesses are the bedrock of every community and of the American economy, and you’ll be their champion. Ready to start?

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Driving growth by building and managing a lead nurture program that guides new users through the sign up and onboarding process.
  • Enhancing our viral features by optimizing NorthOne’s referral program and working closely with our product teams to build features that increase advocacy and drives user growth.
  • Leading the coordinating and executing lifecycle marketing campaigns (email, SMS, Push, in-app) focused on increasing user acquisition, activation and virality.
  • Supporting the project management of campaigns (campaign development, content creation, building campaigns, scheduling deployments) to help ensure customer communications are completed and deployed on time.
  • Pulling campaign results to assess performance and sharing insights with the team & recommendations.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to help deliver lifecycle campaigns for various customer segments.

REQUIREMENTS

Today you might be a Product Marketing Specialist, Lifecycle Marketing Specialist, Growth Marketing Specialist, or the equivalent in your company...or something that we haven’t heard of yet - we keep an open mind. The most important characteristic of our Product Marketing Specialist is your attitude. We want you to join because you don't see roadblocks, you see opportunities to be at your best. You know that with a growth mindset and great teamwork, you can figure anything out.

The skills required for this role:

  • You are the ultimate right and left brain marketer. You’re someone who can get creative and constantly come up with new campaigns, content ideas and experiments while also being obsessively data driven and methodical with your approach to testing and scaling.
  • You have experience managing and scaling email, text, and push notification marketing automation. Email & SMS experience is the most important for now.
  • You are great at diagnosing problems, working with data sets, analyzing results and communicating them in a concise and effective way with stakeholders to improve growth.
  • You get giddy managing CRM’s, segmenting personas and mapping each to their respective customer journeys to successfully nurture customers to conversion.
  • You love being able to see strategies all the way through to implementation and learn how to improve on it next, striving for best in class experiences for our customers.
  • You are a self-starter, driven, organized and thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes unstructured environment.

Bonus points:

  • You are comfortable with Braze (or any other equivalent marketing engagement platform like Segment, Mixpanel, etc.)
  • You have experience with user segmentation and nurturing/lifecycle management
  • You’ve familiar with Looker, Tableau, or similar BI tools
  • You love FinTech!

If you are this close to what we’ve described but aren’t sure, apply. Let’s figure out together if this is where you could shine.
