Po siti on Hi ghli ghts: - Position: Laboratory Assistant, Cytology - Location: Evanston Hospital - Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time (40 hours per week) - Hours: Days - Required Travel: None What you will need: - License: N/A - Education: High School diploma or equivalent - Certification: N/A - Experience: One year experience preferred; new grads may be considered - Skills: Ability to solve technical and interdepartmental problems related to the various Laboratory areas. Ability to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results. What you will do: - Perform a variety of routine and special Lab procedures as authorized by the Manager/Director - Rotate through a minimum of three Lab testing areas, performing laboratory analysis and procedures efficiently, accurately and within allocated time constraints - Collect and label multiple sample types - Perform chemical analysis on specimens - Centrifuge and aliquot specimens - Take volumes on timed samples - Order and record test results in lab computer system - Perform, monitor, and document quality control for all testing - Perform and document routine instrument maintenance and calibrations; troubleshoot instrument problems - Process samples referenced to outside labs NorthShore – Edward-Elmhurst Health is a fully integrated healthcare delivery system committed to providing access to quality, vibrant, community-connected care, serving an area of more than 4.2 million residents across six northeast Illinois counties.
