The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
- Minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience as a RN post-orientation or post-residency training.
- Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
Additional Radiology Outpaitent Center requirements:
1. Obtains ACLS certification within one year of employment, and renews certification per national standard for nurses performing moderate sedation.
2. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in medical-surgical nursing or related area with at least one (1) year experience involving the treatment of cardiac/critical care patients or previous radiology experience preferred.
3. Prepares patient for procedure through education, obtaining lab work, EKG, initiating venous access, and medicating the patient as needed.
4. Explains procedure(s) and provides age-appropriate pre-procedure instructions to patients and their significant other.
5. Administers moderate sedation to patients undergoing invasive procedures and MRI’s as ordered under the direction of the radiologist.
6. Provides patient assessment and monitoring of vital signs, cardiac rhythm, neurologic status, oxygen saturation, etc. as indicated. Documents hemodynamic pressures.
7. Assists physician with pharmacologic stress testing of patients in conjunction with cardiac imaging. Administers pharmacologic stress agent, observes electrocardiograph for rhythm changes, monitors vital signs, and observes patient for adverse reactions to stress agent.
8. Reports changes in patient’s condition and aids in emergency measures as required.
9. Administers post-procedure care and instructions.
10. Maintains supplies and equipment.
