Job Responsibility
- Promotes Social Work Services department goals by selecting, motivating, and training capable team members.
- Leads the activities of assigned Social Work Services team members by communicating and providing guidance toward achieving department objectives. Provides management and leadership to team members of Social Work Services by communicating and guiding toward achieving department objectives. Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals in alignment with system.
- Promotes department goals by selecting, motivating, and training capable team members.
- Leads the activities of assigned team members by communicating and providing guidance toward achieving department objectives.
- Assists in screening applicants for social work positions.
- Assists staff in formulating and implementing psychosocial treatment plans based on patient and family needs.
- Meets with staff social workers to review caseloads; assists staff in examining clinical, administrative and ethical issues.
- Provides clinical supervision as applicable.
- Monitors time, charting and statistics of social work staff in accordance with departmental criteria; participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning conferences.
- Performs psychosocial assessments of patients and families; identifies patients needing psychosocial services.
- Performs competency assessment/performance appraisals according to institutional schedules and policies.
- Interviews patients and families, when necessary, to assess family structure, dynamics, adjustments to illness and access to necessary resources; identifies medical problems and predicts course; educates patients and families about community resources and discharge and planning procedures.
- Participates in internal and external committees and workgroups that require social work expertise and best practice input.
- Assists with management on-call and associated after hours responsibilities.

Job Qualification
- Master of Social Work required.
- Current License to practice as a Clinical Social Worker in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
- 4-6 years of relevant experience and 0-2 years of leadership / management experience, required.
