Job Description
Plans and organizes the media relations efforts to elevate the health system externally.
Job Responsibility
- Implements media coverage by analyzing story angles and choosing appropriate media outlets, editors, producers, and/or reporters, writing pitch letters, press releases, contacting media, making follow-up calls and setting up interviews, and contacting patients for their consent to be observed undergoing procedures and/or to be interviewed by the media.
- Develops media story ideas with hospital executives and staff by interviewing them about patient success stories and technologies; oversees media shoots and interviews; monitors for patient confidentiality, and ensures hospital, programs and staff are presented in positive manner.
- Monitors new technologies, services, and programs for possible media coverage opportunities by speaking with physicians, administrators, and staff; partners with digital and marketing teams on public relations initiatives.
- Responds to daily media requests and inquiries by identifying appropriate staff or patients for print, internet, broadcast or radio media interviews, and supplying information to media. Maintains relationships with members of the media including local, national and online publications.
- Collaborates with outside agencies by providing specific story ideas and acting as liaison between agency vendor and hospital staff or patients who will be focus of story; meets regularly with or holds regular phone discussions with the leadership to go over possible stories, angles, event promotion ideas, etc.

Job Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 10 years of relevant experience and 2 years of leadership / management experience, required.
