Day in the Life
The ideal Data Analyst candidate will have a passion for solving complicated problems with easy explanations and accurate data. We are looking for a person who is highly skilled in all aspects of data analytics, including mining, generation, and visualization. Additionally, this person should be committed to transforming data into readable, goal-oriented reports that drive innovation and encourage company growth. The Data Analyst is expected to participate in a monthly on-call rotation to support the companys 24-hour operations. This position may have hybrid work opportunities for the right person after 6 months.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain databases by acquiring data from primary and secondary sources.
- Build scripts and implement tools that will make the data evaluation process more flexible or scalable across datasets and platforms.
- Escalate and manage internal and external incident tickets through companys ticketing system.
- Work closely with project managers to understand and maintain focus on their analytics needs, including critical metrics and KPIs, and deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers.
- Provide after-hours or weekend support when necessary to perform high-risk or planned downtime of IT systems for upgrades and maintenance.
- Evaluate internal systems for efficiency, problems, and inaccuracies, and develop and maintain protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data.
- Assist with the creation, deployment and maintenance of new datasets and reports that can be used to review and improve company goals across departments.
Qualifications and Skills
- 5 years of database maintenance experience in a mid to large scale business environment
- 5 years writing, editing, and reviewing SQL queries
- 5 years of experience publishing reports though tools such as SSRS and Crystal Reports
- Experience working with automated scripting tools, such as PowerShell (bonus if you know at least one coding language like Python) and Windows CMD line
- Proficiency in statistics and statistical packages like Excel, SPSS, SAS to be used for data set analyzing
- Proficiency regarding database design development, data models, techniques for data mining, and segmentation
- Deep knowledge of data visualization software like PowerBI or Tableau
- Customer-focus with demonstrated experience and ability to identify and assess root issues and resolve to customer's satisfaction or escalate as appropriate
- Proficiency using Microsoft products, including Office 2012 /2016 /2019 /O365 and SQL Server 2016-2019
- Working knowledge of remote access technologies (VPN, RDP, etc.)
- Detail oriented, innovative team player
- Ability to explain complicated concepts and data in a simplified way to stake holders and managers
- 5 years of experience managing project lifecycles and vendors, including appropriate documentation
- Motivated self-starter personality; able to work independently while maintaining patience with frequent interruptions
- Strong math skills to help collect, measure, organize and analyze data
- Bachelors degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, information management, or statistics OR an equivalent combination of work experience and education.
