Direct Support Professional

Northwest College Support is a program in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho that works with college-age students. Our program supports students who are developing life and educational skills needed to live healthy, independent lives. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for experience in the field of human services or for energetic individuals looking to contribute to a growing, interactive team. We are looking for someone who has a heart to help our students and other staff members.. The ideal candidate would also have an enthusiasm for living an active lifestyle, as the job entails engaging in the community – hiking, sports, volunteering, and attending local events. Tasks of a Direct Support Staff may include:

• Motivating young adults to create positive change in their lives

• Following through on tasks given

• Assist in implementing plans created for individual students

• Attending Northwest College Support staff meetings and communicating with other team members

• Accompanying clients in activities such as hiking, biking, and other recreational activities

• Driving clients to college classes and other appointments

• Creating a community among our students

• Supervising our apartment complex while making rounds to each apartment, collecting electronics, and passing medication

• Hosting evening activities for the students

Requirements:

• A desire to help people, compassion, empathy

• Not mandatory, but preferred, a bachelors degree

• Applicant must have a valid driver's license and good driving record (vehicle is provided for driving clients)

• The ability to be trusted with confidential information

• Energy and a positive attitude

• High level of responsibility, professionalism, and organization

• The ability to work as part of a collaborative team, and to be trusted to remain productive in autonomy

• Must be able to pass a criminal background check

• Flexibility and a "yes" attitude
