PRIMARY DUTY: The Assistant Director must be a self-motivated, dynamic individual who will orchestrate Northwest’s various campus visit programs by anticipating the needs of prospective students, families, and other visitors by exceeding their experiences with exemplary service. This position requires initiative, leadership and creativity coupled with excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. This position will work closely with the Admissions-Recruitment team and the entire campus community to create and enjoyable and engaging campus visit experience for each campus visitor. The Assistant Director of Admissions-Recruitment works closely with the Director to meet campus visit and enrollment goals.

Manage and coordinate Northwest’s various campus visit programs for the Office of Admissions-Recruitment with the primary focus on developing customized visits for individual prospects to support their decision to attend Northwest Missouri State University.

  • Schedule, coordinate, and manage all aspects of Northwest’s visits, including: department visit days and special group days, group visits/bus tours, special visit days, and other group visits.
  • Coordinate and manage correspondence to families scheduled for visits days, special group days, presidential scholarship day and bus tours.
  • Collaborate with financial assistance to host Presidential Scholarship Day.
  • Hire and train staff assigned to work department visit days and special group days.
  • Manage and maintain reports and records specific to campus visit program.
  • Maintain and track campus visit evaluations and survey responses.
  • Load campus visit information into student database.
  • Work Saturday tours and special visit days held on weekends and evenings.
  • Assign and prepare staff assist with campus visits.
  • Assist with: training and managing the daily visit coordinator, the student ambassador program, overseeing and managing the process of coding and loading prospective student lead cards in student database, serving callers on the University’s 800 line, and greeting guest at the visitor’s center, covering college fairs, high school visits and presentations to prospective students. Attending meetings and functions on behalf of the director of admissions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience: A minimum of three years higher education or related experience with evidence of progressive leadership and demonstrated student recruitment and student success knowledge.
Skills: Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and interpersonal), strong analytical and problem-solving skills, demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders, knowledge and demonstrated success in leading student service areas (personnel, processes, budgets, and grant writing), experience in implementing and using student success technologies, comprehensive understanding of critical issues facing higher education and current best practices in student success, commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as the mission, vision, and core values of the institution.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position will work in an office environment with a work schedule determined based on service needs, which includes early morning, night, and/or weekend hours.
