About this position:
The Crew Leader works under the supervision of the West Line Area Supervisor to work with and direct the activities of the West Line crew as required and directed by supervision. The crew leader will assist in pre-planning and job procurement for projects in Gas Transmission, while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

About this job:
- Assist and direct West Line crew members to construct and maintain gas storage and transmission facilities including pipelines, compressor stations, and gate stations
- Assist in planning jobs for a safe efficient execution
- Plan and direct the daily activities of the crew including coordinating personnel, materials, and equipment in order to accomplish tasks in a safe and productive manner
- Assist in maintaining the necessary reports and documentation required for complete records of all West Line associated gas transmission project work
- Assist the West Line Area Supervisor as needed
- Make sure the crew is operating with the appropriate tools needed for all safety and environmental requirements of each job
- Coordinate Crew activities with Supervisors and Engineering
- Assume leadership role in emergency situations
- Use Mueller and other high pressure stop-off equipment to tap and stop-off transmission lines
- Operate digging equipment including hand tools, excavators, and backhoes
- Perform manual labor tasks necessary to the job (i.e. digging, lifting, grinding, coating, etc.)
- Drive to installation locations for pre-job planning, construction execution and possibly for post inspections
- Organize equipment and perform regular and preventative maintenance
- Present training on safety, calibration and informational topics to benefit the crew or other departments
- Work on-call, evenings, weekends, and in response to acute service needs
- Travel and stay overnight as needed (up to 100% travel per year)

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Possess the necessary skills and aptitude to direct the West Line crew
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with all members of the crew, engineering, supervision and others respectfully and professionally
- Possess the necessary skills and aptitude to direct the West Line crew
- Demonstrate experience and understanding in all aspects of gas pipeline and station construction and maintenance work including welding, equipment operation, and Mueller "Hot Work"
- Experience and skill in operation of heavy equipment (e.g. excavator, side boom, backhoe)
- Licensed crane operator preferred
- Must have knowledge and experience with 49 CFR Part 192
- Complete Gas Operator Qualification programs as assigned
- Must be able to demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
- Valid commercial driver's license and satisfactory driving record or the ability to obtain one
- First Aid/CPR certification
