Job Description
Nortis, Inc., is a leading startup in the rapidly growing organ-on-chip field – the engineering of living human tissues in microfluidic devices (chips). Organ on Chip (OOC) technology is an innovative and enabling technology that promises to transform many areas of life science research and development.
The Production Technician will primarily be responsible for the assembly and processing of microfluidic devices. Other duties to be performed as necessary may include Shipping, Receiving, and Material Handling. This role reports to the Production Manager. Candidate must have demonstrated manufacturing assembly experience, preferably in the medical device industry; other regulated industry will also be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble components into devices according to approved manufacturing procedures and acceptable industry standards.
- Assemble prototype devices according to documented engineering work orders.
- Execute all inventory management system protocols for material storage and handling.
- Maintain proper levels of traceability for production builds and engineering tests through good documentation practices.
- Handle production grade chemicals per quality and safety procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, occasionally.
- As needed, contribute to product/process development and continuous improvement activities: brainstorming, problem solving, building prototypes, and executing tests.
Experience Required:
- At least 2 years’ experience working in cGMP production environment where new products were developed and released. Medical device or biotech manufacturing preferred.
- Working knowledge of basic lean manufacturing principles.
- Basic computer use skills (internet, email, MS Word, etc.).
- Inventory Management Software experience, a plus.
