PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide dynamic leadership and guidance that will assist NOV and FGS personnel to ensure a clean, safe, healthy and environmentally sound workplace exists and is maintained
- Proactively serve as the primary on-site technical resource and as a champion for cultural improvements relating to HSE
- Ensure required HSE-related inspections and audits are performed and proper corrective action is taken when necessary.
- Ensure all HSE elements of new employee orientation programs are executed
- Ensure all required HSE-related employee training is identified and conducted monthly, semi-annually, and annually
- Lead HSE incident investigations utilizing root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are implemented using the hierarchy of controls approach
- Partner with site leadership and employees to problem solve and ensure corrective actions are completed and validated so that the desired outcome is achieved to prevent or eliminate potential reoccurrence of incidents
- Maintain open lines of communication with employees and leadership
- Periodically review HSE-related programs, policies, and procedures and recommend changes where necessary
- Ensure job hazard analyses are up to date, have been communicated to the Employee base and that appropriate personal protective equipment and other safeguards are adequately identified and in use
- Initiate work orders for repair of machinery and equipment, as needed with respect to safety and environmental requirements
- Maintain all required HSE records and ensure mandatory reporting requirements are met
- Coordinate with HR and Worker’s Compensation personnel, as needed when an injury occurs
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets and other hazardous communication information regarding chemicals used in the workplace
- Manage recordkeeping and reporting requirements associated with environmental permits, stormwater permits, and testing, air permits, waste disposal, and other reporting
- Act as the primary contact in the event of HSE inspections from internal and external sources
- Participate in meetings and perform toolbox talks as needed
- Additional duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. degree in a field related to HSE or science/technical discipline preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years of prior HSE experience required
- ASP, CSP, CHMM, or CSHO certification preferred
- Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply and communicate Federal (specifically, CFR Titles 29 and 40), State, and local safety and environmental regulations
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Must be able to communicate and provide training for HSE-related topics.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to perform administrative tasks at the desk (40-50% of the time) and walk/stand/be present in manufacturing areas (50-60%) of the time.
- Must be able to travel approximately 5% annually.
