Novak Francella, LLC, (NFLLC) is a leader in providing audit, tax, payroll compliance audit, and outsourced accounting services to labor unions, employee benefit plans, and nonprofit organizations. NFLLC is a certified public accounting firm with approximately 150 professionals with offices in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.

Currently we are growing in all office locations, and we are seeking to add a talented Manager to join our team in the greater Pittsburgh region.

We are looking for a dedicated and personable Manager seeking a dynamic opportunity to guide our clients and provide transformative accounting services. Successful candidates must be comfortable working with multiple clients both virtually and on-site. The Manager will interact with clients, their staff, Board of Directors, and Finance Committees on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

Serve as a Manager for multiple clients. Your responsibilities would include:

  • Transforming nonprofit client financial departments to help them meet their mission!
  • Financial reporting for management and Board decision making and presentations.
  • Recommending and implementing improvements to accounting, operations, internal controls, and compliance policies and procedures, supporting client strategy and best practices .
  • Annual Audits -

o Help develop audit plans and audit (in coordination with senior staff).

o Execute audit tests (internal control and substantive) using approved audit plans and standardized audit work papers.

o Supervise, review, and develop team members; provide engagement staff with regular feedback and guidance.

o Perform engagement management responsibilities, including performance reviews, task delegation, project scheduling, project financials, quality review and client management.

o Prepare financial statements including required footnotes and supplemental schedules.

  • Payroll Compliance Reviews –

o Obtain general understanding of Employer-Union Benefit obligations under various collective bargaining agreements.

o Schedule and perform reviews at employer’s locations or remotely.

o Compare payroll documentation to benefit fund reports to confirm contributions were made correctly.

o Expand and prepare a report for any exceptions in an Excel Format.

  • Outsourced Accounting and Controller –

o Transactional activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable (revenue recognition and billing), payroll, investments, fixed assets, general accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and maintaining workpapers.

o Analysis and data visualization, budgeting and forecasting.

o Prepare IRS filings and other government compliance requirements.

o Prepare for and manage annual audit.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about working in or supporting labor unions and non-profit organizations
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance
  • 5-7 plus years accounting experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of audit, accounting, or financial and management advisory services with knowledge of GAAP and GAAS is required
  • Experience working in a remote environment preferred
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple clients, work independently, and be responsive on a timely basis
  • A high level of tact and professionalism in resolving conflicts
  • The ability to work independently and willingness to travel to client offices and other NFLLC offices when it is safe to do so.
  • Candidates must have a vehicle that can be used for work travel
  • Dedication to staying current on accounting pronouncement updates
  • Demonstrated strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Exceptional communication, both verbal and written
  • Experience with multiple GL packages, especially QuickBooks, and electronic bill pay systems
  • Non-profit accounting, public accounting experience, and/or consulting experience is a plus but not required
  • CPA certification is a requirement or 10 years of related experience

Starting annual base salary is $95,000 to $135,000 based on a 40-hour work week for this exempt position. A professional development opportunities are also available. Please note that the base salary offered may vary depending on relevant factors as determined by Novak Francella LLC, which may include, but is not limited to, education, skill, experience, licensure and certifications, internal salary ranges, geographical location, and other business needs.
