The AD, Operational Excellence, US Patient Assistance Programs will drive operational excellence and execute strategy for Novartis US Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs). Manage cross-functional education with stakeholders to ensure compliant PAP support, strategy implementation and engagement for PAP Programs. Manage the day-to-day operations and partner with external call center and distribution partner providing free Novartis medicines to patients in the US meeting certain eligibility criteria.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The AD Patient Support Programs Operations will play a key role in the development and support of the Novartis Patient Assistance Foundation, managing the day-to-day operations:
  • Lead all aspects of the program operations to include implementation oversight, daily KPI/SLA monitoring and optimization through data-driven insights.
  • Understand the strategic drivers for the Program, and apply actions to achieve defined program objectives; Partner with PAP Strategy and Communications Team to drive continuous program improvements by applying insights, industry trends, and program analytics.
  • Responsible for Patient Assistance provider(s) operational account / relationship management (QBRs, regular status, and other KPI Tracking and monitoring)
  • Manage overall program reporting, including KPIs and program data management. Ensure programs built and operated compliantly including monitoring, tracking, reporting and remediation.
  • Project Management is essential part of the role within a complex corporate environment. Interacting with internal and external IT departments within multifaceted operational process flows. This position requires coordination internal Novartis roles, within the constraints of the established firewall and policies, and suppliers to ensure that business rules and service level agreements are being effectively implemented and realized.
  • Ensure supplier has completed all training requirements and is documented accordingly. Proactively monitoring and managing services providers.
  • Provide operational inputs to inform strategy and communications to others on the Patient Assistance Foundation Team, as well as in the organization.
  • This position requires proactive relationship building, education, extensive understanding of the compliance environment, legislation/policies and internal/external teamwork. Ability to problem solve and manage multiple projects is a must.

This position will be located at the East Hanover, NJ site and will not have the ability to be located remotely.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $158,400.00 and $237,600.00 per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required. Advanced degree RPH/PharmD, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical experience required, in brand marketing, patient support, patient services, management consulting, account management, or market access preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in a Patient Services, Regional Account Management or Reimbursement Manager role preferred, with demonstrated ability to problem solve and handle projects.
  • Experience with, and knowledge of call center operations preferred.
  • Current knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare preferred.
  • Business Strategy/Acumen: Ability to proactively identify and recommend customer-focused solutions relating to Patient Assistance services and recommend operational efficiencies and ideas to others on the Patient Assistance Program Team. Proactively monitors and works with supplier(s) and others to identify and address issues, identifying areas of improvement.
  • Leading Teams & Influencing across the Matrix: Demonstrated ability to influence others without authority and successfully partner with cross-functional teams, both internally and externally.
  • Relationship Building: Builds broad & deep stakeholder relationships. Ability to work cross functionally and develop internal and external networks to deliver on objectives.
  • Adaptability: Works effectively in a variety of situations, often managing multiple priorities. Shifts tactical & strategic priorities to adjust course of action to align with priorities, based on urgency and impact.
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong presentation, analytical, computer skills and an expertise in processes, systems, and data flow.
  • Fluency in English required, both excellent oral and written communications skills.
