About the Role
The Area Director manages all efforts of the sales team in their territory. This role is responsible for understanding the competitive landscape and organizing the team to meet expected sales targets.
As the Area Director, you will
- Motivate and energize the sales team
- Create and communicate weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals and ensure C-level executives know the progress towards those goals
- Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales goals and expand NovaSignal’s customer base
- Prepare sales reports and sign off on their accuracy before submitting them
- Participate in weekly meetings, sales and product trainings, and 1:1s
- Assess the competitive landscape and institute changes to the sales program in response to competitor changes and industry standards
- Negotiate distribution agreements where required
- Implement approved distribution strategies
- Manage multiple channel selling strategies
- Negotiate and control pricing agreements and strategies
- Attend clinical meetings, seminars, and conferences as appropriate
- Establish a referral network with local businesses and find opportunities to maximize value from those connections
- Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales programs
- Maintains record and tracking of all proposals in progress and timely follows-up to maximize sales opportunities
- Aggressively pursues all proposals in progress
- Implement a sales training and orientation program to educate new hires as the company grows
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales and marketing, or related field
- 10 years of commercial experience in medical devices with at least 5 years of experience managing a sales force
- Previous president’s club or equivalent performance as a manager and as an individual contributor
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Able to solve issues critically and creatively
- Demonstrated ability to achieve sales plans
- Proven business analysis and judgment with the ability to proactively manage business to meet objectives
- Strategy development, project management, problem solving, and change management skills
- Solid understanding of healthcare and regulatory requirements and issues
- Exceptional negotiation skills
- Ability to build positive working relationships, both internally and externally
- Ability to effectively present information to all levels including management and C-level
- Business related computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- A solid understanding of the American stroke market
- A solid understanding of the American neurosonology market
- Experience in negotiations with executive administration levels CFO, CIO, CEO, CMO
- Experience influencing clinical and reimbursement guidelines
- Experience managing feasibility studies, clinical registries, and clinical trials
- Clinical aptitude in neurovascular procedures, as well as monitoring and diagnostic examinations
