Position Overview
The EMRA Leader is responsible for Leadership and direction of both the Engineering/Technical/Reliability Staff and the Maintenance Organization. The EMRA will lead the development and implementation of methods and procedures to ensure stability and capacity growth of the manufacturing equipment, as well as execution of improvement and reliability initiatives. The successful candidate should also be capable of building and maintaining a rolling CAPEX Plan that includes Sustaining, Growth, and cost Saving Capital. Additional EMRA responsibilities include training and development of the technical and maintenance workforce, collaboration with the Operations and Process Leads to ensure continuous operations and exceptional quality and working with peers and Capital Leads to ensure efficient and prioritized Capital expenditures for the facility. Successful candidate must have a Safety-First attitude and possess the skills to enable a Team Based Environment that prioritizes Problem Solving and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Leads the EMRA Organization in prioritizing safe work practices in accordance with all Novelis, Federal, State, and Local requirements.
- Promote standard methodologies in all Engineering, Maintenance, and Reliability activities.
- Drive/Lead Improvement Activities that enhance and improve equipment efficiency and uptime.
- Champion lean tools such as effective Daily Management and Problem Solving.
- Efficiently manage and implement the CAPEX Budget in collaboration with Department and Plant priorities.
- Champion Reliability Initiatives and effectively cascade through the organization through coaching and teaching,
- Create and foster an owner’s attitude in direct reports and peer groups through support and development of a Team Based Environment.
- Be responsible for the ownership of all Reliability and Maintenance systems and metrics in the Department.
- Effectively implement the Performance Management System in order to grow and upskill the Team to be ready for next level performance.
- Develop and implement Training Plans for all functions. Engineering, Maintenance, Planners, etc.
- Participate in site wide alignment activities to strengthen and implement strategies for standard process maintenance and outage execution.
- Interact in a Team Based and collaborative way to support Operations, Process and Technical resources in achieving extraordinary results for our Team Members, Customers, and Organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Controls, Automation or Mechanical Engineering.
- 5 years of experience in the field of engineering in a management or leadership role.
- Effective organizational skills and ability to work with different levels of the organization.
- Excellent leadership skills and good interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in computer software including Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, and Microsoft Project.
- Ability to write specifications and facilitate bids from contractors and suppliers.
- Excellent understanding of Rolling Theory and associated process fundamentals.
- Fundamental knowledge of AutoCad, with the ability to make minor changes to drawings.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform root-cause-analysis on equipment and process issues, related to rolling and process equipment.
- Proficient in fundamentals of reliability such that the position can help establish appropriate PMs and PDMs for process equipment.
- Understanding of advanced engineering and diagnostic tools such as Finite Element Analysis, vibrations analysis, lubrication analysis, FFT, etc.
- Excellent ability to manage all types of projects and administer the Capital Expenditure Budget
- Fundamental understanding of financial analysis associated with project justifications.

Novelis’ newly announced Bay Minette facility will be located 35 miles northeast of Mobile AL and 45 miles west of Pensacola FL and is expected to create approximately 1000 high-paying advanced careers in modern manufacturing and become fully operational in 2025. This highly advanced rolling and recycling facility will be the first of its kind. It will primarily serve our customers in the beverage can and automotive markets.
