Position Summary
The GoVal Software Support Specialist will be a part of the Government Consulting and Valuation Advisory (GoVal) department. This position will provide GoVal employees with end-user support for custom-built software platforms created to enhance and automate their workflow. The responsibilities for this position will include building report template, database administration, user assistance (password reset, trouble logging in, etc.), and responding to user inquiries.
The most successful candidate for this position will
- Have a foundation of solid technical skills and be comfortable discussing software development concepts, databases, GUIs and testing methodologies
- Be able to work successfully and efficiently with people for most of their workday via email, IMs, phone or video calls
- Have experience in real estate, especially as it relates to being a source of income (concepts like revenue, vacancy, operating income, operating expenses)
- Be enthusiastic about the opportunity to grow and develop this new role

Your Contribution and Responsibilities
- Set up new user accounts
- Assist in drafting and maintaining a library of appraisal report templates
- Interact with users and troubleshoot issues, escalating where needed
- Provide advice and training to end-users
- Monitor an internal issue queue and/or dedicated email for the purpose of communicating with users
- Foster positive relationships with team members and stakeholders
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on a portfolio of software applications to team members
- Maintain system documentation including known issues and feature requests
- Assist with planning and coordinating testing changes and upgrades to the system, ensuring it will operate correctly in current and future environments
- Develop and publish a maintenance schedule for designated software applications
- Potential opportunity to work on programming in an administrative language
- Complete other tasks or projects as assigned
Your Background and Skills
- Excellent problem-solving/analytical skills and knowledge of analytical tools; ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Ability to inquire and gather information to understand business needs
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs
- Ability to self-educate on industry best practices
- Solid organizational and follow-through skills, performing work accurately with strong attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to translate technical information/program designs to non-technical customers and stakeholders
- Ability to interface effectively with technical and nontechnical staff at all organizational levels
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to understand business function related to the application
- Prior exposure to real estate, finance, valuation or accounting industries is a plus.
- Experience with technologies such as Python, Django, database administration or related programming languages is a plus.
- Experience with workload and project management tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Asana, Monday.com, Wrike, MS Project, ServiceNow, Ivanti Service Manager or similar is a plus.
Your Qualifications
- High school diploma and 3 years of related experience in a role as application administrator, technical support, help desk representative, etc. and/or appropriate balance of education and work experience
- Post-secondary education or completed certificate program in a related field may substitute for experience
