About this Role:

We’re looking for a VP of Finance with the vision and drive to help build Nowsta’s finance and accounting teams at a time of enormous growth. You’re a proven leader with relevant experience in corporate finance, and financial planning and analysis. You’re excited to work hard in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working across leadership to develop financial strategy, operations, and systems. The VP of Finance will be responsible for the company’s Financial Planning and Analysis process, including long-range planning, annual/quarterly budget, business and KPI analysis, forecasts, scenario planning, compensation and headcount analysis, modeling, valuation, and strategic planning. This position will report directly to the COO/CFO and manage a team of financial and accounting professionals.

What You Will Do:

• Lead and expand the finance function, with a focus on short term and long term business strategy and planning
• Direct and execute the company budgeting process, including working with department leads to define quarterly and annual budget development
• Generate financial models and forecasts, monitor financial performance metrics, and partner with department leads to provide insights and practical recommendations for improvement across the business
• Research, model and advise leadership on pursuing new business and revenue opportunities
• Establish budgets, identify cost drivers, and work with team leads to manage spend in the smartest way possible
• Work closely with management to ensure strong performance towards financial metrics and other related business KPIs
• Actively participate and support ROI analysis and pricing discussions for existing and new services
• Provide guidance on investment strategy and facilitate due-diligence initiatives
• Responsible for cap table management and compensation analysis
• Define financial models and participate in making enhancements in sales and revenue forecasting, cash forecasting (both A/R and A/P), and expense forecasting
• Build and scale the finance team to support all finance and accounting functions
• Understand and be responsible for complying with relevant laws, regulations, and tax obligations. Partner with the legal team to develop tools for compliance and data accuracy. Serve as a key contact for audits and reporting

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking, financial consulting, private equity or venture capital. Startup experience required
• 3 years in a strategic finance leadership role with a strong understanding of business metrics and strategics
• Experience building/maintaining financial models, projections, valuation, a deep understanding of balance sheet mechanics, industry analysis
• Strong appetite for problem solving in a high growth business
• Knowledge of fundraising in Series C onward
• Knowledge of Ramp, Bill.com, and QuickBooks. Expert in Excel and excellent with numbers
• Skilled at communicating complex information, both verbally and in writing. Comfortable interacting with employees at all levels, and with investors
• Willing and able to learn quickly. Self starter with a “no task is too big or small” attitude
• Entrepreneurial Bend: You have built something from the ground up and know what it’s like to work in a fast-paced and agile environment, tolerating ambiguities and resolving them as appropriate. You likely have some experience at a smaller company with this, or within a larger company driving a new initiative.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. MBA and CFA/CPA preferred.
• Location: While flexible, you must have the ability to work from our Brooklyn location full time
