JOB TITLE: Welder   GENERAL DESCRIPTION: As a Welder, you repair and build piping systems with welding equipment. You use measuring, cutting, and welding tools to cut and alter metal materials for repairs and new projects. You must have extreme attention to detail, as the work is often delicate, and the welding tools used are dangerously hot. You must strictly follow safety precautions. Pipe welding work requires that you follow exact plans and blueprints.   REQUIRED DUTIES: Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as SAW, MIG, FCAW, and SMAW. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements) Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead) Repair pipe and other products by welding pieces and filling gaps Must be able to repair the flaws on pipe, found by quality control, after production in the Pipe Repair Station Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety Responsible all the activities in the Pipe Repair Station Clean inside the pipe before welding, cut the area of the weld by using carbon arc and prepare the proper equipment for welding. Maintain work area and keep equipment clean and orderly Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves, etc.) Other duties as assigned   REQUIRED SKILLS: Proven experience as welder in industry. Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures Prior experience in welding (preferably pipeline welding) Current knowledge in the ANSI, API, AWS, AND ASME standards. Ability to interpret schematics. Awareness and experience in all welding gear.   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to stand or crouch for long period of time Able to lift up-to 50 pounds Able to work in outdoor climates.
