NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association is looking for a Policy Analyst to join our Industry Affairs and Business Development department. This position will report to the VP of Legal and will play an integral role in maintaining NTCA as a leader in rural telecommunications policy. As our Policy Analyst, you will have the opportunity to provide expert advice and assistance to member systems and NTCA staff concerning regulatory, competitive, and technical issues affecting the rural broadband industry, including cybersecurity policy.
What will you do?Under the supervision of the General Counsel, Vice President of Policy, provide leadership and direction to achieve the Policy Division’s objectives.Responsible for the effective oversight and project management of NTCA cybersecurity information sharing platform, which includes maintaining member participant list, hosting a monthly call with the steering group, interfacing with contractors supporting that platform, and helping lead and identify topics and speakers for bimonthly calls.Keep abreast of current cybersecurity issues and trends, update the cybersecurity portion of the website as necessary and serve as NTCA’s representative at information sharing meetings, including those of the national council.
Assist in the development and promotion of NTCA’s advocacy positions on various issues as directed by Policy Division staff. Assist in drafting pleadings filed with various Federal agencies; information distributed on Capitol Hill; and communications used in outreach materials.
Represent the Association and its member companies at industry meetings, as requested, helping to maintain and establish positive relationships with relevant stakeholder entities. Will assist specifically with NTCA interaction with industry bodies addressing cybersecurity issues.
Increase member awareness and knowledge of industry issues and trends. Prepare and disseminate communications and presentations to members on relevant topics through committees, publications, and educational seminars.
Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with members. Confer with members on current and future policies and objectives.
The ideal candidate will have the following position requirements:
Knowledge of government agency policies and procedures, preferably as they relate to telecommunications, the needs of small rural broadband/communications providers and/or cybersecurity.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and take initiative; and strong organizational and public speaking skills.
Practical knowledge, skills & abilities usually acquired through an undergraduate degree, and 1-3 years of work experience in the telecommunications industry.
