Description
The DC Operations Manager will coordinate and direct all Distribution operations associated with the functioning of a high volume Distribution Center. Oversee picking, put away, receiving and load/ship of orders. This individual will assume full responsibility for the quality and efficiency of the service provided to TBC locations. This individual is responsible for managing the distribution staff.
Job Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed TBC’s performance standards for quality and speed of service to our customers.
- Assist in establishing/validating standards and measurements for the operation of the several departments operating within the Distribution center. Will perform reviews to assess the attainment of those objectives.
- Responsible for the protection of company assets which includes Inventory, Equipment, and facilities.
- Will assist in providing information to develop the annual operating budget, which includes the staffing plan, fleet expenses, facility maintenance costs and capital spending requirements.
- Responsible for monitoring expenses regularly and performing monthly variance reporting.
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all picking, receiving, put away, load/ship of all orders, product returns, and ensuring Inventory Control functions.
- Reviews and recommends changes to the computer systems in order to improve accuracy, efficiency, and service.
- Maintain solid employee relations through regular communications and administration of the company’s Human Resource policies.
- Develop and implement appropriate training programs to ensure that staff is equipped to perform assigned duties.
- Maintains the facility equipment and vehicles and will resolve any issues which may interfere with the safe, efficient, and least cost operation of the Distribution Center.
- Regularly review security systems to ensure proper operation and utilization.
- Promote safe operating practices throughout the facility and provide necessary safety training to all occupants of the building.
Qualifications
- Successful management experience including but not limited to: leadership and motivational ability, time management and organizational skills, training, coaching and counseling.
- Mathematical and analytical skills necessary to budget, forecast and evaluate Distribution Center performance.
- Proven successful development and implementation of material handling equipment and conveyors (where applicable).
- Customer service orientation and a high level of professional integrity.
- Ability to work well under pressure (conflicting priorities, absenteeism etc.) and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
- A degree in Logistics, Business, or other related disciplines is required or equivalent experience in a high volume distribution or transportation environment.
