Basic Job Functions:
The role of the Buyer position includes aiding and supporting the division in all purchasing activities. This includes but is not limited to working with suppliers to improve supplier performance on delivery, quality, and cost; processing purchase orders and request for quotes; negotiating contracts and agreements; analyzing data and developing metrics to improve performance; and other activities in Purchasing and Finance.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Five years experience in purchasing, procurement, or related roles.
- Familiarity with major ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, MS Dynamics, Sage, etc.).

- Excellent customer service and communication skills with proven success in building relationships.
- Proven negotiation, contract management, and analytical skills.

- Demonstrated ability in establishing priorities, organizing work, and meeting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Prior purchasing experience in an industrial environment.
- Experience and Proficiency in Oracle EBS
