Job Summary
The RN Nurse Educator is responsible for identifying and providing ongoing training, coaching and education for all employees. The role is responsible for the ensuring all employees are provided a robust education program throughout the course of employment that enables them to master and demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties. Specifically ensuring that new employees are oriented to hospital policies and procedures, department managers orient and adequately train the employees in their respective departments, and all employees receive on-going training and education that meets regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties:
- Maintains current knowledge of state and Joint Commission regulatory requirements.
- Review and evaluate training programs for compliance with CMS, JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
- Works closely with Human Resources to deliver and track new hire and on-going training programs that ensure that all employees are able to demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and competencies.
- Identify and assess future and current training needs through job analysis, career paths, and annual performance appraisals.
- Develop an overall or individualized training and development plan that addresses needs and expectations
- Deploy a wide variety of training methods, testing and evaluation procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate training program’s effectiveness, success and ROI periodically and report on them.
- Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices.
- Participates in hospital committees and reports relevant information to hospital staff.
- Maintains training records and documentation.
- Conduct or arrange for ongoing technical training and personal development classes for staff members.
- Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes, and other factors.
- Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.

Job Requirements
Education and/or Licensure – Minimum of an Associate or Degree Bachelor's degree in nursing. CPR (BLS or, ACLS) and Behavior Management Program certification must be obtained within 30 days upon hire. Valid Texas RN license in good standing required. Must be 21 years old or older.
Experience – A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a healthcare environment preferred. Previous training or nurse management experience preferred but not required.

- Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum/training development which incorporates nursing theories, principles and models.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and function calmly in situations, which require a high degree of sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy. Provide prompt, efficient, and responsive service.
- Structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of state licensing, regulatory, and facility requirements for nursing educational requirements.
- Ability to create a conducive learning environment in theoretical, clinical simulation, and/or practice settings.
- Understanding of how to incorporate and engage learners with the use of appropriate information technologies for teaching and learning processes.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Advanced knowledge and skills in the control, preparation and administration of medications.
- Must have advanced PC skills that include a combination of working in a Windows Operating System and Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and function calmly in situations, which require a high degree of sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy.
- Ability to exercise appropriate judgment in answering questions and releasing information; analyze and project consequences of decisions and/or recommendations.
- Skill to independently interpret reference materials to comply with law, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, etc.
- Ability to apply time management practices to prioritize, schedule and complete work effectively to comply with mandated policies and deadlines.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks or parts of tasks simultaneously to ensure timely completion of work activities.
